Elysian Magazine
Designed layouts for two editions of Elysian, Aurora University's student-run literary magazine. Collaborated with fellow students to curate and select artwork and stories for publication, working as a team to ensure everything was translated correctly from submission to final layout. The process included editing photos, compiling poetry, prose, fiction, and visual art into cohesive spreads, and sending the final book to print. This was an incredible experience working with like-minded students through every stage - from marketing and classroom presentations to the final release party celebrating the published magazine.
Waubonsie Valley High School Powder Puff Football
Designed custom football jerseys for Waubonsie Valley High School's 50th anniversary Powderpuff game. Created a retro athletic graphic featuring "Waubonsie 50 Powderpuff" that was printed on jerseys in two colorways - pink and blue - for the competing teams. The design process included multiple vector iterations, color mockups, and physical production. Seeing the team's reaction when they received the jerseys was incredible.
Mergenthaler Linotype Company Book
Designed a historical book on the Mergenthaler Linotype Company for a school project, documenting the machine that revolutionized typesetting and newspaper publishing from the 1880s onward. Used period-appropriate design language throughout - vintage typography, muted earth tones, and technical illustrations referencing late 1800s/early 1900s print aesthetics. Spreads include interactive elements demonstrating hand typesetting, inventor portraits, matrix photography, and keyboard layout diagrams, balancing historical research with visual storytelling.
Logo Gallery
Times New Wormin' Typeface
Created a complete custom typeface from photographed earthworms for a school project exploring letterform construction from unconventional materials. The project name plays on Times New Roman. The process involved spreading out earthworms, photographing individual letterforms, cutting out each character, and refining shapes that didn't fit the overall identity to maintain visual consistency across the alphabet. Numbers were created afterward using components from existing letters. The typeface was then applied to poster designs that layer the worm letterforms over natural imagery, testing legibility and visual hierarchy in context. No worms were harmed in the process, and were released into the wild to live the rest of their lives.
